Carbon Tax: How it can help to achieve climate goals?

Image
Limiting global carbon emissions is at the top of the global climate change agenda.  To sustainably achieve the climate goals the world is engaged in various climate talks  but still struggling to limit their harmful emission for the sake of development. Worldwide diverse strategies are being evaluated to minimize the emission of GHG gases, and among others, the carbon tax is attracting significant attention from leading economies. This GCF share of investment is provided by the South Korean division of GCF which is considered the world’s largest climate fund . The ASF project will invest in early-stage companies that have mastered their prototypes, business plans, and service models concerning climate change. Under...

Rise in Groundwater Temperature Threatening the Global Aquatic Ecosystem

Image
Groundwater resources play a significant role in the well-being of every living organism on this planet Earth. It is the lifeline of the environment and biodiversity. But due to climate change, Earth is heating and so is the groundwater temperature too. As oceans work as a heat sink, they absorb a substantial amount of heat generated in the atmosphere due to greenhouse gases. The warmer groundwater which is one of the essentials for aquatic life is threatening their existence. Source: https://www.pexels.com/photo/photo-of-body-of-water-1254275/ With the rise in groundwater temperature globally, there is an expected change in the chemical, physical, as well as microbial balance of groundwater resources. It can impact communities, businesses, local wildlife, and biodiversity at large . To decode its diverse implications, a recent study on rising groundwater temperature and its associated impacts has been conducted by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany.   As per the ...

Climatechange is a global issue that seeks the utmost attention across the globe. The efforts at inter-governmental, community, and individual levels are taking place on priority to counter the rising challenges that can fix the issue and save the planet Earth. To attain a viable future and minimize the ill impacts, a huge demand for climate funds and investments is needed which can fuel the growth of a low-carbon economy across the globe. Source: https://pixabay.com/illustrations/earth-horizon-earth-from-space-1785915/ The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Report estimates the need for around US$ 4 Trillion in finance annually to fight against climate change and achieve SDG targets. The key multilateral development banks lent US$ 230 billion in 2020 which was a mere share of the total finance needed to scale up the climate efforts in a conducive policy space. The world is developing mechanisms that can effectively fill these gaps and amplify climate in...
